Universal Inbox

Description: The Universal Inbox is a new issuance pathway that allows partners to send verifiable credentials to any user with just their email address. It provides a simple, universal API endpoint that completely handles the user onboarding and credential delivery process, whether the recipient is a new or existing LearnCard user.

Problem Solved: Partners frequently need to issue credentials to users who may not have a LearnCard wallet yet. Current methods require either asking the user for their LearnCard ID upfront or using single-use claim links. This creates friction for both developers and end-users. The Universal Inbox eliminates this complexity by allowing partners to use the identifier they already have—the user's email—and letting our platform manage a seamless delivery and claiming experience.

• For Partners:

  • Radically Simplified Integration: A single, intuitive API call to issue a credential to anyone.

  • Accelerated Adoption: Removes the technical barrier of understanding DIDs or wallet states for simple issuance.

  • Seamless User Transition: Once a user claims a credential, the partner is notified via webhook with the user's LearnCard ID, enabling future direct-to-wallet interactions.

  • Automatic Interoperability: When a user claims a credential, they can choose a different wallet than LearnCard to claim their credentials.

  • Effortless Onboarding: Users receive a simple email notification to claim their credential, guiding them through a quick sign-up or log-in process.

  • True Self-Sovereignty: The user remains in full control, creating their own wallet and managing their keys, upholding our core principles.

What's Next: Following the initial launch, we plan to enhance the Universal Inbox with features like:

• Support for other identifiers, such as phone numbers.

• Batch issuance for sending credentials to multiple users in a single API call.

• Increased customization options for partner notification templates.
